Wisdom Tooth Extractions – Ottawa, ON

Do Your Wisdom Teeth Need to Come Out?

When you reach your late teens or early twenties, your wisdom teeth will likely start to come in. If they can erupt successfully and don’t cause any oral health issues, you may be able to keep them. In many cases, though, wisdom teeth can become painfully impacted due to a lack of room in your mouth. At Smyth Dental Centre, we can remove your wisdom teeth if they’re causing more harm than good. Give us a call today if you’d like to schedule an appointment to see if a wisdom tooth extraction might be necessary for your smile.

The Wisdom Tooth Process

Removing wisdom teeth may require surgery if the teeth in question are trapped under the gums. After we numb your mouth, we’ll open your gums and (if necessary) remove any bone that might be preventing us from accessing the teeth. When we perform the actual extraction, each tooth may need to be divided into sections that are removed one at a time; this approach helps minimize the amount of bone that needs to be taken out.
